A Sheared House Where Architecture Floats & Our Linea 72 Firetable Grounds It

March 18, 2026

Perched high above West Vancouver with uninterrupted views of the city skyline, Burrard Inlet, Stanley Park and the Lions Gate Bridge, Sheared House feels less like a structure and more like a series of volumes suspended in motion. Light shifts across its faceted planes. Glass dissolves boundaries. Steel and shadow create rhythm.

From every level, the landscape performs.

So when it came time to shape the outdoor living spaces, the goal wasn’t to compete with that drama. It was to anchor it, add warmth and create a place where people naturally gather.

That’s where our Linea 72 fire table came in.

A Terrace Designed to Hover

The home’s architecture is defined by movement. Vertical planes slide past each other. Portions cantilever forward or pull back. A terrace stretches outward over the pool like it’s testing gravity.

It’s bold. Expressive. Almost weightless.

Outdoor furniture alone would have felt temporary here… like something that might blow away with the view. Instead, the design & build team at McLeod Bovell chose something with presence. A low, linear concrete fire table that feels grounded and architectural. Something that visually connects the terrace to the structure itself. Our Linea 72 fire table sits confidently at the center of the deck, surrounded by soft lounge seating. Clean lines. Minimal form. Nothing fussy.

Because when everything around you feels like it’s floating, a little grounding presence is exactly what you want.

Concrete That Complements, Not Competes

In a home this refined, every material has to earn its place. The exterior palette is subdued and moody. There’s custom metal panels, glass and natural textures. Understated but intentional. The kind of space where one wrong finish sticks out immediately. That’s why concrete works so beautifully here.

Our fiber-reinforced architectural concrete has depth without gloss. Texture without noise. It catches light softly and changes throughout the day, just like the surrounding landscape. It doesn’t shout for attention. It belongs.

The Linea’s crisp geometry mirrors the home’s strong lines, while its neutral tone complements both the stone tile deck and the darker façade. The result feels seamless, as if the fire table was always meant to live here.

Linea 72: Designed for Real Living (Not Just Looking)

This terrace is meant to host everything from quiet mornings with coffee to long dinners with friends and late nights watching the bridge lights flicker across the water. Fire becomes the natural center of those moments.

The Linea’s wide linear flame creates an even, welcoming heat that encourages people to gather from every side. No awkward ‘cold seats.’ No craning toward a tiny flame. Just steady warmth and conversation that stretches a little longer than planned. And because we build with high-performance, fiber-reinforced concrete and corrosion-resistant burners backed by a lifetime warranty, the homeowners don’t have to baby it.

Rain, salt air, coastal weather, it handles it all. Which means less maintenance. More living. Exactly how outdoor spaces should feel.

Built to Support the Vision

Projects like Sheared House are deeply collaborative. Architects, builders and designers are solving complex structural and aesthetic challenges at every step. The last thing anyone needs is uncertainty around a key feature piece.

That’s why we work closely with trade partners from the beginning: sharing specs, finishes and installation guidance so everything arrives ready to fit seamlessly into the build schedule. It’s thoughtful planning and pieces that perform exactly as promised. After all, when you’re crafting a home this intentional, every detail matters.

Linea 72 Is A Quiet Anchor in a Dynamic Setting

What we love most about this project is the balance. The house is dynamic. Expressive. Always in motion with light and shadow. The fire table is steady. Grounded. Calm. Together, they create harmony.

By day, the Linea 72 reads like a sculptural concrete form against the skyline. By night, the flame flickers to life… soft, warm, magnetic. Suddenly the terrace isn’t just a viewpoint. It’s a destination. A place to pause. To gather. To watch the city glow below. And honestly? That’s our favorite kind of design, the kind that doesn’t just fill space, but helps people feel at home in it. And we want you to find the perfect fit for the next space you’re designing too.
